Privacy Policy for Rephrase It
Last updated: January 25, 2026
Overview
Rephrase It is a Chrome extension that helps users rephrase selected text using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Data Collection
What we access:
- Selected text: When you right-click and choose "Rephrase It", the extension reads the text you've selected on the webpage.
What we store locally (in your browser):
- API Key: Your Google Gemini API key is stored locally in your browser's storage. It never leaves your device except to authenticate with Google's API.
- History: The last 2 rephrase pairs (original + rephrased text) are stored locally for your convenience.
What we send externally:
- Selected text: When you request a rephrase, your selected text is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing.
